1. Locate Open Circuits

VDIAGTOOL V210 Open Circuit Detector comes equipped with transmitter and receiver LED indicators, which can instantly detect and alert you to open circuits. VDIAGTOOL V210 assists in quickly and accurately locating open connections, broken wires, leakage points, and even tracing cable routes via the built-in receiver’s Audible beep.

Note: Signal strength affects the volume of the Audible alert. During testing, position the probe close to the cable. Should the sound suddenly diminish, this indicates the presence of a fault point.

2. Check Short Circuits

VDIAGTOOL V210 Automotive Short Circuit Detector features a 6.7-inch flexible probe. By bending wires or connectors and listening for changes in the receiver’s tone, it assists in identifying intermittent circuit faults and easily accessing wires in congested areas.

Note: Audible signals may be affected by transmission distance, resistance values, shielding layers, and circuit complexity. To enhance detection accuracy, inspect circuits step-by-step and complete signal testing to precisely locate short-circuit points.

3. Wire Tracing

Easy to use by simply connecting the transmitter in series with the circuit or wire under test (e.g., in place of a blown fuse, across a connector, in series with an open wire, a light bulb socket, etc.), and scanning the circuit/wire with the tracer’s flexible probe to find the trouble spot.

User Guide

1. Select Mode

  • TONE mode – Use for open circuit detection or wire tracing
  • CONT mode – Use for continuity checks or short circuit testing

2. Connect Sensors

Attach the probes or clamps to the wire/cable being tested.

3. Diagnose

The tool will indicate breaks (open) or unintended connections (short).

4. Precautions for Use

  1. Signal strength affects volume: If the sound is low, try adjusting the probe position to find a stronger signal for accurate detection.
  2. The sound signal may be affected by propagation, resistance, shielding, and circuit complexity. To improve accuracy, check wiring step-by-step and complete signals to pinpoint the exact short.
  3. When the signal is not strong enough, the volume will be low in the receiver. Please find a strong signal and try to turn the signal up to the highest level; also check whether the battery power is sufficient, as it will affect the tool working properly. When the tool is not used, please leave it in the OFF position or remove the batteries directly to avoid draining the power.
  4. V210 is an entry-level tester and can only roughly determine the short circuit area through sound signals but not the exact short point in multiple and complex wires. Any issue before or after purchase, please check with us!
