KTAG V7.020 Description

The K-TAG ECU Programming Tool is engineered to meet customer demands for responsiveness and reliability. As a true innovator, K-TAG introduces J-Tag communication for Asian vehicles to the Alientech ecosystem.

KTAG 7.020 includes a new color-coded GPT cable for GPT functionality:
GPT is a new password algorithm used in modern Tricore microcontrollers. KTAG v7.020 can read and decrypt the secret password, automatically unlocking/unprotecting Tricore sectors to enable full read and write access to both Flash and EEPROM.

The new K-TAG offers 100% J-Tag compatibility in a unique way. Unlike traditional J-Tag programmers—typically reserved for large-scale production and absent from chiptuning tools—Alientech has integrated J-Tag, Motorola BDM/Nexus, and Bootloader communication lines (for Mitsubishi/Infineon Tricore/ST) into a single, compact device using only essential components.

K-TAG operates seamlessly across protocols. Learning one protocol enables intuitive use of all others, as they follow similar principles. Alientech’s research-driven approach ensures detailed, organized protocol and vehicle selection methods tailored for professionals on the move.

Unlike many ECU tools, K-TAG provides only the applications you truly need. Once you own the hardware, you can selectively enable protocol groups and begin working immediately. This page lists all currently supported ECUs.

Like all Alientech programmers, K-TAG is available in both Master and Slave versions, allowing Slave users to leverage the broader Master network in the chiptuning community. Note: K-TAG does not support OBD communication—for that, use KESSv2.

To maximize K-TAG’s versatility across Electronic Control Units, Alientech offers a comprehensive range of specialized adapters—either soldered directly onto the ECU or used with a positioning frame.
