A: If the two clips are shorted but the reading is not zero (e.g., shows x.xxx mΩ), this is normal. Only when the clips are perfectly connected will the minimum value (close to zero) appear. Non-zero readings do not affect accuracy, as the internal program automatically calculates the theoretical zero point. No manual zero calibration is required.
Q: Should the battery be fully charged before testing?
A: Battery state (fully charged or depleted) does not affect internal resistance measurement. The internal resistance changes minimally (except for defective batteries).
Q: Why are measurement results unstable or inaccurate?
A: Fluctuations may occur due to:
- Poor contact between clips and battery terminals.
- Unstable battery voltage or oxidized electrodes.
- Strong magnetic interference nearby.
Q: Why is the measured resistance higher than the battery’s actual internal resistance?
A: When testing high-capacity batteries (very low internal resistance), ensure proper clip placement and contact. The resistance of battery terminals or connecting wires may exceed the battery’s internal resistance.
