DPF Functions

What is a DPF?

A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is an exhaust aftertreatment device that traps particulate matter like soot and ash. It typically uses a ceramic honeycomb substrate. To reduce emissions, the DPF captures and stores soot, which must be periodically burned off in a process called regeneration (“regen”). This prevents harmful exhaust emissions and the black smoke often seen during DIESEL acceleration.

This heavy-duty truck scanner enables:

Passive Regen

Triggered automatically when soot accumulation reaches ~45% of DPF capacity. The system initiates post-combustion fuel injection to raise exhaust temperatures, enabling soot burn-off even during low-speed or stop-and-go driving.
